http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|84191|1|,00.html Spike TV: Marsters Routs Boreanaz to Win Showdown of the Network Stars (Monday, October 20 02:32 PM) LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Spike may be fading in and out of Wolfram & Hart on "Angel," but he's front and center in the minds of Zap2it readers. James Marsters, who plays the not-all-physically-there vampire on The WB series, easily won Zap2it's third annual Showdown of the Network Stars over his "Angel" co-star, David Boreanaz. He joins past winners Gillian Anderson ("The X-Files," 2001) and Jennifer Garner ("Alias," 2002) as the person anointed the top star in the TV universe. The final tally wasn't close. Marsters received close to 22,500 votes to about 4,300 for Boreanaz. It's also not surprising, given the level of fan ardor accorded Spike during his time on "Angel's" predecessor, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." News that Marsters was joining the cast of "Angel" helped ensure the show's return for a fifth season; it had been on The WB's bubble last spring. Marsters cruised to the win after defeating "Tru Calling" star Eliza Dushku, also a "Buffy" veteran, in the Final Four. Boreanaz topped defending champ Garner to advance to the finals. Marsters also defeated John C. McGinley ("Scrubs"), Alexis Bledel ("Gilmore Girls"), William Petersen ("CSI") and Jennifer Aniston ("Friends") on his way to the title. Boreanaz took out Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under"), Alyssa Milano ("Charmed"), Maura Tierney ("ER") and Lauren Graham ("Gilmore Girls") before facing Garner.

Sore losers! Sore losers! ;) Kidding. Congrats to them both. It just shows that Buffyverse fans rule this damn internet!

Well, we all know what this means. ME should immediately give Spike his own series. How can they not take advantage of popularity like that? JM is too amazing an actor and Spike too wonderful a character not to do it. I remember back in seasons 6 and 7 of BtVS, saying "Get that boy his own show. Get him off BtVS and put him in his own series." Did anyone listen? No. Now I'm saying it again: "Get Spike off AtS. Get him his own series." For the love of god, will someone listen this time? Anyone?

Spike only won by 18,000 votes? I demand a recount. Every hanging and pregnant chad needs to be counted.

And unfortunately the NG, unlike other forums with different formats, doesn't provide a way of deleting posts. So it's redundant clutter. Too bad. But I must say I did scan the list of thread headers first. I didn't see any with "Zap2it" in the title, and I didn't realize "Spike rules!" referred to the Zap2it poll. I just thought it was a simple statement of fact. :) Needless to say I am delighted with the poll results. All's well with the universe. Clairel
