Probably made by some woman putting on her makeup while drinking coffee, reading the newspaper, futzing with the radio, and merging into traffic without signalling. ------------------------------------ There is no infection here. ------------------------------------

I read he wants cell phones to fit behind an ear, dial automatically by thought (maybe he was joking, it can be done by gesture though) and tickle instead of a ring everyone can hear. OK maybe he was joking about that part too. I don't see this happeneing with all of the PDA and MP3 and video game functions being combined with new phones.

Mobile telephones have been available for automobiles and passenger trains since the late 1940s. The difference between "cellular" phones and the previous generation was in how the radio waves are utilized. The concept of breaking a service area into small cells allows for more efficient radio wave use and thus allows far more people to have service. The old system had very limited capacity. It frustrates me that today the latest "digital" cell phones don't work as well as the "analog" phones of a few years ago. My six year old analog phone never cuts out in the middle of a call--digital phones seem to do that all the time.
