The new issue of TV guide lists the top 25 cult shows, and while I don't recall the entire list, the top 3: 3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer 2. X-Files 1. Star Trek (TOS) They also had a short list of shows that didn't last long enough to achieve cult status, including Profit (terrific show) and Keen Eddie. I think I would include American Gothic on that list, personally. I tend to believe that if X-Files began its run today, it wouldn't last a full season. But, the first 4-7 seasons were great. Firefly, of course, could've made the list of potential cult shows, but didn't. Alas. My question is: what would YOU put on the list of cult television shows? What shows could've been cult shows but just weren't given the time to make it? Kim Nix

It was totally a cult show, and was on longer than Forever Knight. As for Kindred: The Embraced, it's kinda a cult show since most everyone who plays the White Wolf Game Vampire: The Masquerade knew about it. Other shows I'd put on a list of Cult Show Status: Xena and Hercules Sliders Transformers He-Man My Secret Identity and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Mandi The fish Girl "I saw Fish" "Hey it's the Fish Girl!"

I would add: Transformers, Power Rangers, and Alias (Alias is a show quickly turning into a cult show)

We rented Bubba Ho Tep over the weekend. It's very worth seeing. I'm not particularly a BC fan so I don't think I'd want to own it. BC fans should run right out and pick up a copy of the "Bubba Ho-Tep" DVD. BC's commentary, in character as "The King", is worth the price all by itself - bit there's lots of other goodies, too. It deserved it. I would've put Futurama on the list, that damn show wasn't given enough time or attention by FOX. It should've lasted a lot longer. Beau King Of DrPepper

That's whittled down from what the Cap'n had, but include the ones I'd mention. I'm a little curious what they mean by 'cult,' though. I'd have thought they meant a show with a small but steady viewership, in which case "Angel" would apply but "The Avengers" and "The X-Files," which had large audiences, would not. Other than those, if we're using the former as definition, I'd add "The Wild, Wild West," a precursor to "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." and still a very entertaining show when it's rerun. Wonderfalls I think may gain cult status once the DVDs (recently announced) come out. I've seen unaired episodes 6 & 7 and the show just gets better and better. I felt that The Simpsons didn't deserve to be on the list. It's too 'popular' and 'mainstream', imo, just like some other show they mentioned that excluded for those very same reasons.
