Greetings, I got the recent season 6 Buffy dvd set release from a region 4 retailer. I also bought some previous seasons not yet out in region 1 from region 2 retailers. I have a multisystem dvd player, that plays dvd from all regions. However, something weird....when I play a widescreen dvd that's not region 1, it looks funny on the screen. There's no bars at top and bottom, a full picture, but everything is wide and squished. This is on a 24 inch screen too. What is wrong? Is there a way to correct this? Its great to be able to watch the episodes, but annoying when the picture looks all wide and stuff.

If your TV doesn't have a 16:9 mode, you'll have to set your DVD player to "letterbox" mode in the system menu. /Lars

Or his player isn't correctly sending the ratio info for PAL discs. There may be a button on his TV remote to set 16:9 mode. Dave.

You need to get a dvd player that will do that. examples are the MALATA and the CYBERHOME dvd players. -- Irulan from the stars we came, to the stars we return from now until the end of time
