Is there a really glaring cut in the scene, about half an hour into this episode, during the scene where.... SPOILER SPACE.... ...Willow kills the deer?

"Willow kills Bambi", as it is known! The one-episode and two-episode edits may be different. No one is quite sure which version Sky showed, and the BBC cut it heavily. What the BBFC made of it is anyone's guess. John Briggs

Fox/ME do not make cuts unless requested to do so(Lie to Me seems to be the only case where an episode was cut after it was initially aired uncut in the U.S). For an example of this, just compare the Region 1 DVD of Dead Man's Party to the Region 2 DVD of Dead Man's Party that was sold in the UK. They aren't completely the same episode. Guess which one has cuts? Smaug69

They publish information about what gets cut and what doesn't on their website (www.bbfc.co.uk) so you can check for yourself if you like. They did request cuts in Dead Man's Party. I wrote and complained about this cut. Lie to Me is interesting because it's less a cut than a re-edit. There was some copyright dispute over some music and as well as making a change for that they also changed some other things. With Bargaining they created 2 versions - a 2 hour version and a 2x1 hour version. The 2x1hr version had some stuff moved around so that the break fell in a convenient place, and slightly shortened to allow for an extra set of end credits. Some of the changes also look like they were for artistic purposes. I'm still sceptical that the DVD will have the deer scene cut. Has anyone actually seen it? It was on the VHS tapes so it they were going to cut it they'd cut it for those too.

According to http://www.tvtome.com/BuffytheVampireSlayer/season6.html#ep102 the clumsy edit in the deer-killing sequence was part of the original edit. They discuss on the commentary track how the scene was shortened - a lot - before it was transmitted. My concern was that there's such an obvious cut in the scene, you would have thought that someone would have tidied up (the soundtrack) at that point. For the record, the deer scene is on the DVD (and, as far as I'm aware, it's exactly as it originally aired). The compiled version of "Bargaining" also features at least one scene that was dropped from the two-part version (the "city of the future" scene). I have updated my site with the latest information (answering a few questions I've been asked in other posting boards, and in emails). Thanks for all your help. Julian K www.zetaminor.com
