As Buffy lost the "let's charge" argument I half expected her to disappear, or morph into something hideous, or otherwise be revealed to be "The First Evil" disguised as Buffy. That was the obvious set-up. But it didn't happen. So the next and final scene - Buffy tearfully pleads with Faith to take charge. Does that emotional breakdown (the General's admission that his authority is so eroded that the troops won't follow) imply that the image we see is really Buffy? Or is this a last ditch ploy to get Faith to lead the troops into trap - playing on Faith's ongoing problem with being the "junior" slayer? Some of "Buffys" rebuttals directed at Faith might be seen as designed to open those old wounds. And Faith is looking a bit beat up. An allegory? Without conceding any predudice to my general "the show has declined" view, this episode was interesting. It raised _interesting_ ambiguities, and that is something I haven't seen in a long time. But the previews of the next show make me wonder if Xander couldn't use an organ donor. Dave When the Prime Minister spoke yesterday I thought to myself, "I hope I'll be able to give a speech like that when I grow up" - Bill Clinton, October 2, 2002 http://my.core.com/~dsueme/power%20lines%20mail.JPG
