1999-06-21 00:00:00 - Roy's Photos from Defi-Vision Race for Mira - (Francoise <jblayne@cybersouth.com>)

Yvon Larrivee from Autodrome Granby has graciously shared not only information about the Defi-Vision race Roy participated in last Friday to raise funds for Foundation Mira http://www.mira.ca/, but he also sent me some photos to share with Roy fans which can be seen later today at Chloe's Roy Dupuis webpage at http://www.iduna.demon.co.uk/roydupuis.htm . Can't wait to see if you recognize that shirt and those sunglasses! LOL This is Roy's 6th year participating in the race and this year he and his driver, Johanne Gendron, were in first place at one time during the race, but apparently the turns slowed them down. Still, they did come in a very respectable 12th out of 32 drivers. That's our boy!!!! Most importantly of all, they had a record crowd this year of almost 7,000 people and raised 75,000$ Canadian funds for Mira. They were hoping to raise 70,000$ and were very pleased to exceed that amount. If you're unfamiliar with the Defi-Vision race, it's held each June at the Autodrome Granby stock car track in Granby, Quebec. The drivers are blind and are guided by co-pilots who are usually stars from radio and television. Some of this year's co-pilots were Chantal Francke, Jean- Rene Dufort, ric Salvail, Mario St-Amand, Serge Meunier, Benoit Johnson, and Roy Dupuis. Yvon has put up two more photos of Roy on his Autodrome Granby webpage at http://www.citenet.net/autodrome-granby /. Just click on "Photos" and you'll see a photo of Roy and Johanne, followed at the bottom by a photo of all the drivers and their co-pilots. Roy and Johanne are standing in the back row. The photos will only be on Yvon's site this week. You can also click on "Commentaire de Yvon" and get a recap of the Defi- Vision race. If you click on "English" first, you can scroll down past Yvon's French commentary and read it in English. A special thanks goes to Yvon for his willingness to share with Roy's fans and Mira supporters who otherwise wouldn't have known the details and outcome of the race. Thanks also to Chloe for putting the photos on her site - like her arm had to be twisted to do *that*, huh??? I took a look at the pics. He didn't look too happy to have his picture taken in one. -- Seabush Francoise <jblayne@cybersouth.com> wrote in message news:7klidp$blb$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > Yvon Larrivee from Autodrome Granby has graciously shared not only > information about the Defi-Vision race Roy participated in last Friday > to raise funds for Foundation Mira http://www.mira.ca/, but he also > sent me some photos to share with Roy fans which can be seen later > today at Chloe's Roy Dupuis webpage at > http://www.iduna.demon.co.uk/roydupuis.htm . I don't want to seem reallllllllly out of the loop but I haven't been able to get on here hardly ever. :( SO, Where are the sunglasses and shirt from? An episode of La Femme Nikita? Somethings a fan or fans sent him? Something from a magazine layout? Thanks! :)
