OK folks, just a quick question to help pass the time til Sunday night... I would like to know what actors you would use in LFN if you were going to cast the show. You can replace any or all of them... just curious to see what everyone thinks...(me, I don't think at all! LOL) Jrzygrl (this is going to be the longest weekend I ever spent...) -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/ Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading

My question is.........Is there anyone out there that doesn't like any of the regular characters? (Nikita, Micheal, Ops, Maddie, Walter, Birkoff)What don't they like about them? What would they change about the show itself, the charactors or the actors? IMO TPTB are doing a super job casting, not only the regulars, but the guest villians as well, they do an amazing job! DJ

I wouldn't change any of the cast, but i think it would help if they were to add a few more operatives, at least as recurring characters. With the exception of Jurgen, you know any character significant enough to have a name is going to be dead by the end of the show, and Jurgen didn't make it that much longer. The section as shown is quite top-heavy with "executives" who stay safely out of the line of fire. dan amdm@my-dejanews.com wrote: > > OK folks, just a quick question to help pass the time til Sunday night... > > I would like to know what actors you would use in LFN if you were going to > cast the show. I have always felt that is why the series is better, because we have more time to get to know the charactors, to get deeper into their lives, to better understand them. I really liked the movie last night, I was surprized because I was not that impressed when I rented it. It is way much better than Point of No Return. DJ > > Daniel Burnes' (?) Actually I was just thinking about this while watching Nikita (movie). First time I've seen PONR & LFN in movie form & I found the cast lacking. I keep waiting for the depth of emotion & realized it just wasn't there. The TV LFN is better than anything just the way it is. 1998-06-14 00:00:00 - Re: While we wait.... - (granvia@aol.com)

I don't share your feelings wholly, Mary. I really liked Luc Besson's La Femme Nikita. I thought the actor who played Bob (the Michael role) was excellent. He was able, to me, portrait the many shades that we also see in Roy Dupuis' Michael. Ruthlessness, professionalism, sexiness, stubborness in his protection of Ann P.'s (who was superb) Nikita, and also his attraction for her. Like Roy Dupuis, his eyes projected his conflicting emotions well, given the time. Obviously, Roy Dupuis is a master minimilistic actor and able to act through his eyes like most actors can't through lifetimes of bodies. Yet he has had two years to hone the Michael persona, and he will, to our minds especifically, always be the best -- with good reason. Still, the film (not movie) was deeply shaded with passion and angst. I loved the role of the cleaner, who was a wonderfully scary serial killing sociopath (is that statement redundant?). You saw a subbed, edited version, try and see the subtitled whole film. A lot of feelings and crucial intonation is lost when a movie is subbed -- and edited, like the kiss. In the non-edited version, the kiss was longer, and Bob was really shaken, not just by the kiss but by Nikita's statement that was the only kiss he was ever going to have from her. Bob was left frustrated and pained. I do agree with you that beyond those characters, there was no great deal of character development of the Madeline, "Birkoff," and "Operations." Although I found the actress who portrayed the Madeline character, poignant. Lack of character development was mostly due to the fact that it was two hour film. Daniel Burnes' (?) (an actor I like) Bob in Point of No Return was lukewarm, same as the actress Fonda. There was no passion, no fire, no real connection with the characters of "Bob" and Nikita as there was in Luc Besson's LFN and, of course, the series.
