1999-06-13 00:00:00 - Fantastic Episode!! (spoilers) - (JENNIFER E STEVENSON <JENNIFER22@prodigy.net>)

S P O I L E R S Wow!! I thought this episode was fantastic! I knew something was up from the beginning but I just couldn't figure out what. I had figured out that Michael and Nikita probably had a pretty serious conversation after he woke her up, but obviously since we weren't let in on the plan we were left guessing. Guessing till almost the very end. I do feel pretty bad for Walter though. Torturing him like that was an awful thing to do. After all, he's no spring chicken. What if he had died totally by accident? Imagine the guilt that Nikita would have suffered. Then there was that end scene with Operations. Walter's look was classic. It was kind of like "Okay, what have you done with Operations?". Even the last moments kept me captivated. Nikita looks at Michael with such yearning in her eyes. Unfortunately, he's much better at masking his feelings. When she talked about not being able to be casual with him and he responded, "I know", I thought to myself "but do you understand". Maybe, maybe not. That remains to be seen. Next week's episode also looks quite intriguing. I look forward to it! I liked your comments. It is kind of refreshing to hear positive comments instead of complaints. Good Job!!!!

No kidding...there's something about a good ep that just makes me feel more lighthearted the next couple of days, pathetic as that sounds. It' s a great remedy for just about anything. Ah - I remembered one of my questions. What exactly is the title "Beyond the Pale" supposed to mean? The only Pale I know of is the Pale in Siberia (I'm thinking _Exodus_ here). I'm guessing it's not that pale since...Roy...well...spoke French. What part of speech is this particular pale anyway? Is this an idiom I don't know? Kyn Rio2 wrote... > >I liked your comments. Let's see how much I paid attention in high school and college <g>. Back when England dominated Ireland, the area that fell within the dominion of the English (that is, their walls) was called The Pale. (but didn't it encompass England, Ireland, and Scotland? grr, I forget now) Anything outside those environs was considered beyond The Pale and thus you were on your own (no soldiers to help you fight off invaders, etc). Its idiomatic usage today means something unacceptable or unreasonable. So, really, the title of the episode fits for both meanings. The protector sense in that leaving Section is being outside the protection (and authority) of The Pale, and the idiomatic sense in that Salzman (and Michael?) did something unacceptable - their behavior was beyond the pale. Did that help? :) Ruby Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
