What did TV want with her >brother/mother/whaever? > >Why/when/how/ had she seen the picture before? Claire had been another photo-journalist who was down in South America with Veil. Veil called up her info on the palmtop and that's why he was in town. He was doubting both what he thought he knew about Hidden Agenda and himself, and was hoping she could help him out by verifying the events. She, however, did not know him--at least, as far as his memories were concerned. He never actually ran into her in South America. They did have a mutual acquaintance, Robert McMillan [whatever] who had been head of the press corps down there or something similiar. When Veil knocked on Claire's door, he got her mother, who was very frightened, very cold to him, and refused to give him any info. He left the name "Robert McMillan" and told the mother to give that name to Claire when she got back from work--he'd be staying at the motel down the street (that the mother directed him to). He hoped Claire would recognize the name and call. Personally, I was wondering why Claire would even call him back. The fact, as we later found out, that McMillan had killed himself about a year ago [how long ago did Veil "disappear?"] tells us right away that she knew he was not who he represented himself to be. Still had some of that journalistic spirit left, I guess. Anyway, after a phone call when she told him not to bother her ever again, he decided to go to her house anyway. She immediately pulled a gun on him from behind, but when he turned, she said, "Tom, what are you doing here?" Veil thinks this is odd...they never met. She seems to think they have a close relationship--he's taken some photos of a house for her, and they've slept together [implied]. Veil starts not-so-subtly pumping her for information...."tell us where we met" -- she says something about last June. He says something about their paths having crossed in South America, and is about to pump her for info about whether he was making the whole thing up. She puts two (questioning about South America) and two (use of name Robert McMillan) together and comes up with four--she says, "you're the man who called earlier." She gets her gun and points it in his face again....this time she's serious. He backs out. When he is out of her house, she explains that McMillan killed himself thirteen months ago. Analysis: She knew McMillan. McMillan, then, WAS real. At this point, Tom was doubting everything, so it is, indeed, a start. She was also surprised when she saw the photo of Hidden Agenda in the doppleganger's house, and said something like, "Do you know what they'll do if they know you have a picture of this?" I'm not altogether certain that was a "They" with a capital T. She may have been referring to the U.S. Army, the people who appear to be the ones committing atrocities in the photo--the ones who, if she was indeed an innocent bystander, would certainly want the picture to disappear. At the same time, she seemed to recognize the EVENTS of Hidden Agenda, as if she was really there. But IF she was, and IF she was not organization, then WHY did they kill her? Wouldn't she have the same info Veil does? Her mother, btw, probably WAS informing to the organization. Sharon adararose@aol.com My, I do go on.

She was supposedly in : Central/South America with Tom when the photo was shot. Tom didn't really know her beyond reputation, they "worked in the same circles" and both of them had McMullan (?) as a contact. They were both in South/Central America (as Tom remebers things) when Tom took HA, but Tom knew that Clare wouldn't know himself from Adam. : He : basically wanted to see her to reconfirm that the event actually : happened, and that the photos were real. Probably more to see if she knew anything from being down there at the same time, find out why the heck her name wound up in the palmtop (anyone have an explaination for that?), and/or to find someone who might be able to confirm his existence. Questions, was she able to recall the psuedoTom's identity as the photo-journalist Tom? Was she someone who was erased, or rather "gave them what they wanted, and was able to go home?" Did the psuedo-Tom meet her as the real Tom, got her to tell him everything she knew, and then told her never to say anything about it again? (When the real-Tom asked her when they first met, could she have taken it as a test?) Was her memory tampered with and the psuedo-Tom put there to keep an eye on her? Interesting and his dog Spot are this much closer to the weekend then you were two minutes ago. (Unless you're east of Boston)
