UPN has chosen to scrap the majority of their African-American sitcoms and the Sentinel. In response to this, two internet campaigns have been set up. The first one is Save the Shows! It is designed to save two of the African-American sitcoms recently cancelled, In the House and Good News. There have even been reports that people in LA are handing out fliers and petitions on the streets to save Good News. The website, which was recently redesigned for better navigation, is located at http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Set/2043/saveshows.htm The second has recieved much publicity, being mentioned in such publications such as Ultimate TV, TVGen and Cinescape. Out of all the shows cancelled this season, The Sentinel has recieved the most support from fans. The main page for the protest, Support Our Sentinel, is located at http://world.std.com/~sentinel One last campaign to save a UPN show is UnErase Nowhere Man. Nowhere Man was acclaimed by critics when it premiered in 1995. Cancelled only after one season, itt has since aired in many places around the world. The URL for the campaign is at http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/6404 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UPN holds annual meeting Earlier this week (6/8,6/9) UPN held its annual meeting with their affiliates in Laguna Niguel. Discussed at the meeting were the new shows and UPN's new direction, to reach "middle class" homes (Or as Dean Valentine put it, "flyover country"). This was Dean Valentine's first meeting as president of UPN and at the meeting it was announced that Tom Nunan was promoted to president of entertainment. The affiliate's representitives got to view clips of the new shows and were most excited about Guys Like Us and DiResta. Both are going to air on Mondays this fall. Other new shows are The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfieffer, Mercy Point, Seven Days and Legacy. UPN also premiers a new slogan this fall, "You'll find yourself on UPN".
