1996-06-02 00:00:00 - Is this group going to die? - (The Creamed Corn Kid <ryanhome@earthlink.net>)

The end is near. Tom Veil's gone, Hidden Agenda's gone, the conspiracy's gone (unless you count the one at UPN)- this newgroup is about the only thing left of Nowhere-man. So my question is: Is this group going to slowly fade away and die or are the hard-core fans going to be hanging out here five years from now still talking about the cigar smoking conspiratorial brain-washers and the importance of "negatives"????????? I'm tempted to say, "The show's over folks. There's nothing more to see here. Go back to you're normal every-day lives and let the people in control of the television station run Brady Bunch reruns until the year 3000. Let the group die with dignity." But a television-based news-group CAN survive long after the show is cancelled- alt.tv.twin-peaks is still around- the real question is WILL this group last? Is there really anything left to talk about?

There is probably more to talk about now than at any time during the show's run. (Can't you tell from the flood of posts--I, for one, can't keep up with all of them...) I mean, who is Veil/Gemini? Who is the Director and why is it that we can never see him? What is the Organization all about, anyway? Breaking glass? Dead senators? Etc., etc. And, of course, there are rumors galore about whether or not the show will be picked up, by who, and in what format. It seems to me that this newsgroup is just now flourishing... Alan Tucker writes... <<the real question is WILL this group last? Is there really anything left to talk about?>> Are you kidding... we're hard core through and through! There's so much more dissecting to do. Look at what happened to the Trek phenomenon... a series that started in the 60's... got canned and three decades later, it's still going strong. I can take three more decades of NwM :) Christina

In fact, I had responded to the original post by saying I am not going anywhere, and if worst came to worst, we could always talk about "The Parent 'Hood". Which is true. Of course there's plenty to talk about for a while yet, but I think the eventual fate of this group depends on reruns. If, somehow, the 25 eps are shown again, then we'll have tons to discuss and debate. If not . . . This *is* what THEY want us to believe. This newsgroup can still go strong. Conspiracy theories will live forever. Rose Swicegood PS When do they start the NwM mugs? I want one that shows Tom Veil running and then fades out when the mug gets hot! :-)

I know it seems like it is over....but TV movies are still a possibility. Besides, The last episode left us with a lot to try to reconcile. 1. What is Tom's real name? 2. Is Tom's real name Thomas Veil? 3. Regardless Tom is Gemini, an FBI Agent whose past was wiped out...If he is not Veil was his father really his father (Dean Jones), He seemed like a benign presence. 4. Who is running the conspiracy? 5. How many others have been "replaced"? etc. I think the inconsistancies can be explained, but through speculation (or new episodes/movies) Alex The Creamed Corn Kid <ryanhome@earthlink.net> wrote: >The end is near. Discussion about that program is still quite active, and when broadcast recently on U.S. cable (SF Channel?) there were live IRC chats held. The Program?.... That would be telling..... BCNU Alan
