I liked what this episode was trying to say, actually, it DID say it, but the acting was so bad, and the script was so banal and the story was put together in a rather stupid way, especially towards the end, when they tried to cram all these revelations about the REAL NATURE of things down your throat at break-neck speeds. Am I being a critical bastard? I thought the woman in the lead role was pleasing to the eye, but her acting was so utterly unconvincing, it contributed greatly to the failure of the episode. I'll have to go back and watch it again just to be certain. Once again, a good story idea, almost Philip K. Dickian in essence, but in the transfer of the idea to a sequential story format, it got bungled to the point of nearly not working. Still, not a BAD episode. I don't know if there is such a thing as a BAD episode of the New Outer Limits, although I've read lots of nasty comments about the Rebecca Paulson episode, which I thought was great, except for the ending. They could have taken that episode into a really satisfying area , but bungled it completely. Hearts & Minds worked a lot better than that episode, that's for sure. Perhaps my expectations are too high regarding this show. But the again, it's episodes like The Hunt, that make my expectations so high. Bye bye.

>I liked what this episode was trying to say, actually, it DID say it, but the >acting was so bad, and the script was so banal THE ACTING WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!! Man, was that some bad acting. Reminded me of Olive Deering's horrible performance in oOL's "Zanti Misfits". It's as if these actors had no idea what this story was supposed to be about, what was going on from moment to moment....feh. The ending, with them all saying "now we know the truth, we wont hurt you" etc etc, was supposed to be powerful but fell UTTERLY flat due to the awful performances of the actors. BY FAR the worst acting Ive seen in nOL. NECRONOMICON, all-instrumental electronic music inspired by H.P.Lovecraft, now available on c-60 cassette. E-mail StoOdin101@aol.com for details.

I think my review said something like the acting was 'competent'. That's a pretty poor statement to make considering what we've been treated to throughout the season. H&M wasn't the worst episode they've ever done, but there wasn't really much point to it :| -- Mike Horne mike@whispers.demon.co.uk * http://www.whispers.demon.co.uk "They say life is a river..."
