The Other Side is the best episode yet in new Season on Showtime, but still this isn't saying much. Here's hoping the crew of writers recover from the nasty imagination virus going around. Apparently it has struck there quite heavily!

Pretty good ep, but we had already been there in THE REFUGE in the second season...and, in part, in THE HUMAN FACTOR way back in 1963. Still this was a solid ep, just as THE GRELL and SMALL FRIENDS were. As you say, the problem is not with the acting or with the scripts themselves, but with the fact that the stories have been done --- sometimes on OUTER LIMITS, in fact --- several times over. But at least they seem to have gotten away from the use of a Twight Zone style twist ending in every episode, which can only help the end product. For a while last season every episode invited one to say "Oh, I'll bet _she's_ a robot too" or "The planet is really _Earth_" or "they're really _aliens_" or whatever. And that doesn't leave much for re-play value. The Showtime site indicates an adaptation of THE HUMAN OPERATORS by A.E.Van Vogt and Harlan Ellison. Perhaps that will be a shot in the arm for the show. "If our lives are indeed the sum total of the choices we have made, then we cannot change who we are. But with every new choice we're given, we can change who we're going to be." --- THE OUTER LIMITS; "In Another Life"
