You don't own the off-the-air material recorded on those tapes; under current copyright law, you can tape TV shows for your own use, but *SELLING* them is illegal, since you don't have a license from the studio or network to do so. You can legally sell your tapes for the original retail price of the blank tapes, plus sales tax, and charge for the postage... but if you charge a nickel for the *contents* of the tapes, you're technically liable on a felony copyright infringement. Now, if you'd bought a studio-released videotape of a "SLIDERS" ep, then you could sell THAT for original purchase price, or more if you could get it, and be legal; because the original purchase price included payment to the material's owners for your right to have a single copy of the program material, and do with it what you wished. (As long as you don't duplicate it, charge admission to see it, or transmit it over the airwaves, that sort of thing.) You may or may not hear from Fox Legal about your ad; depends on whether someone there is bored, and reading the topic. But you might want to re-think publicly advertising copyrighted material for sale, when you don't have the legal right to sell the material.

I suggest you kill this post before someone not willing to look the other way finds it. --Seth
