How about that! From the TV GUIDE site, I read that the replacement for SLIDERS during its aborted hiatus, LAWLESS, got cancelled after only one episode! I've always liked SLIDERS and thought it was dumb to replace it. FOX-TV is smarter than I'd thought, for a network. - C.L. Miller clmille@azstarnet.com

"M.A.N.T.I.S." -- FOX's uncredited remake of "EXO-MAN." --- used by FOX as a replacement for BRISCO COUNTY. Reformatted after pilot movie, reformatted in mid-flight, production crew replaced, cancelled. "SPACE: ABOVE & BEYOND" -- cancelled by FOX after 22 episodes; should have been cancelled after the *script* for the pilot was delivered, before any film was exposed, but FOX smoked nearly fifty million bucks on this travesty. "FORTUNE HUNTER," -- FOX's uncredited remake of "SEARCH." --- lasted a few shows, despite all the folks commenting on how Steven Aspis' "original" script seemed to be a selection of a few blocks of dialog from the movie "PROBE," the pilot for Leslie Steven's "SEARCH" series....... ..... I could go on, but my point is, you can hardly accuse FOX of operating with anything even vaguely akin to "smarts."

Pay no attention to this. Only a test.

Miller clmille@azstarnet.com So all those thinking about "Sliders sucks now!" this almost happend to us. Sliders is and always was a show we got by dumb luck. Fox seems to love to cancel good shows,w/o giving the shows a chance. I remember when X-files was new and low in the ratings ,rumor about cancellation abounded. Now its #12 in the ratings, which is the Fox equivalent of being #1 all time show in the ratings. Fox is not smart,we are merely lucky. Basically

Actually, I can remember another show that did the very same thing-- Melba! Not that this has anything to do with Sliders-- it's just a channel-2000 blurb for those who give a damn. S. The show was called "TURN-ON," and we didn't get to see the last part of it.... not that we wanted to. Apparently the networks still answered the phones in those days.......

Don't forget EZ Streets ALMOST became that way, too ;-) Hmm, isn't someone going to start an alt.tv.ezstreets group anytime soon? That show is beyond AWESOME (yeah, I know I just sounded really stupid)... With Feds and EZ Streets, Party-o-5, DS9, (and yeah, Voyager, so sue me) all playing Wednesday night (around the same 2 hour block), and almost no shows *I* like to watch on any other day (at least 'till NYPD, Homicide, etc. returns) - barring Sliders (of course), the schedule's getting preeeety lopsided for me. Oh well, I suppose this is a good thing - I SHOULD devote more nights of the week to studying... --Paul P.S. I almost forgot about the comedies, but those I don't always feel inclined to catch every episode (well, there are always exceptions)...

The station here shows it, along with Bab5, on Thursday. I only watch Tv on Thursday (DS9, Bab5), Friday (Sliders), and Sunday (X-Files).

Quirky Northern >> Exposure type show? I liked KW better tho. I can't believe you missed KW, it was GREAT.. Fisher Steven, who is on that in my opinion ashow not worth of licking his boots, "Early Edition". He was a steel worker, I want to say in Pittsburg who won the lottery so he quit his job drove his car into the ocean, in Key West, and when he got there found out he was ineligible for some reason. 1. It had Fischer Stevens- from Short Circuit 1 & 2.. everyone remembers Ben. 2. Denise Crosby was the mayor 3. Jennifer Tilly was Savannah the prositute with the heart of gold.. It may sound cheesy but she was really good. 4. Brian Thompson was the New Age type of sheriff, he rode a bicycle around town. Funny and quirky.. If you can find it anywhere, GOD I wish I could.. I would suggest watching it. >D.B. Sweeney and the women on that show were all a lot of fun to watch. Actually as luck would have it, the first weekend I had it The 2 hour Pilot show was airing..
