Sliders: they sport new clothes each episode, but where are they getting the money for this? In case you haven't noticed, they haven't been to work in a while. And even if they DID get their hands on some cash, I know if I were being shot between parallel worlds, I'd be too freaked out to stop for a mini-skirt and a new do. Plus, I think I've seen Redsie wearing the same shirt in two separate episodes. I don't see them diving into that time-bending tunnel with any peices of Samsonite, so where did she store that shirt before she decided to wear it again? Obviously, not in her bra. --

(except in the first episode with the communist money, when they explained it.) If they had to explain everything that wasn't relevant to the plot, that would turn it into a 8 hour show! Just enjoy, and forget about the small meaningless stuff.

aj639@chebucto.ns.ca (Ron Bray) wrote: >Sliders: they sport new clothes each episode, but where are they getting >the money for this? This old question. I see no one's posting the alt.tv.sliders FAQ. Can't say I'm surprised... -WHERE THE SLIDERS GET THEIR MONEY- 1. They get jobs, like in "King is Back" and "The Fire Within." 2. They carry money with them and hope it still works in the next world. 3. They carry gold with them, which would be viable in a majority of worlds. This was brought out in "Invasion." >work in a while. And even if they DID get their hands on some cash, >I know if I were being shot between parallel >worlds, I'd be too freaked out to stop for a mini-skirt and a new do. Well, suppose you spent three days in a world like in "Fire Within" or three months like in "Weaker Sex?" You're telling me you'd wear the same clothes every day? > I don't see them diving into that time-bending tunnel with >any peices of Samsonite, so where did she store that shirt >before she decided to wear it again? Obviously, not in her bra. Interesting concept...but they don't need luggage. They probably buy new clothes and ditch their old clothes before sliding to another world. In the first season, they wore the same clothes every time, but now that they've resigned themselves to sliding, they probably take more care in their appearance. In "Love Gods," Quinn comments that he'd like to get new clothes because he's been wearing the same clothes for the last three slides.

Yeah, I always wondered when they had time to _shower_ no less change! How do they do it? Or they buy them with the money they have, wherever they get *that* from; didn't someone say they explained the dosh in the third season? -- Benjamin John Evans, editor of Swirly Thing Alert - it may not be Better Than Life, but at least it's not Vogon poetry. They explained it in the *first* season with in Oil Boom World of "Fever," when they got all that free money. Then there's "King is Back" and "Weaker Sex" where they showed the Sliders getting jobs. And in the second-season's "Invasion" where Arturo mentioned that Rembrandt carried gold, which they could use as money on a lot of worlds.

The Luggage? It escaped, and went to Disc World. I don't think money is a problem. There have to be worlds where you can sell something relatively inexpensive for a lot, buy something inexpensive and then sell it on another world for a lot, etc. ad nauseum. MY point would be what if they land on a world with totally different currency they can't use? And how many worlds have they stiffed their doubles with the bills on? -John

Okay then if this is the case then why in the first episode with the Kromaggs (When they visit the French world) did Arturo have to give away his very expensive watch ? I do belive Remy lost the gold, but what about the money ? Okay one could argue that it wouldnt be the local currency, but thats to me is a poor argument in this case ! --- +-------------------------------------------------+ | Rodney Norton, Sydney AUS. | A1200/060/50. | | Email : rodneyn@aic.net.au | 4 Speed CD. Actually, they got in big trouble when they tried using US currency when they landed on the world where the USSR had taken over the US.
