Hi all. For anyone out there who's been reading the comic book 2-part series "Sliders: Ultimatum" : I have the second issue, but not the first. My local comic book store has informed me that, "We can re-order it, but you know, it'll probably never come in." Perfect! Just what I want... half of a mini-series. No other comic book stores around here have the first issue, I've called them all. What is the deal with comic book stores not ordering enough copies of this comic? I don't ever really go into comic stores (I made an exception because I really wanted to read the "Sliders" comics) so I don't know, is it just my local store(s) ? Does anyone know of a back-order comic store/chain that would have copies of the first issue? For that matter, would anyone sell me their extra copy of the first issue (assuming anyone has an extra one) ? *Any* help would be greatly appreciated. Post here, or e-mail me, your choice.... Thank you.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matthew Hamilton mehamilt@piper.hamline.edu --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous." --- Crow T. Wow! This is nice to hear. Check comic stores for copies of Wizard and Comics Buyers Guide; they sometimes list mail order houses. Also, right here on the merry old Internet, check out rec.arts.comics.marketplace to leave a post and have folks help with your hunting. If it's any relief, I haven't gotten my copies, either! <G> Best, Dan Chichester Sliders Comic Writer -- D.G. There seems to be quite a demand for this kind of thing, myself included. If anyone out there knows of any comic shop anywhere in the US that has copies, please post its address and/or phone number here! You'll be doing the owners a big favor, because they'll be flooded with orders, I'm sure. :)

Store owners often don't treat their outlets as a business. They overorder on "hyped" product, which makes it impossible for them to commit to "unknown" titles, which are more likely to actually contain quality material and may actually help to build them a continuing audience. Then, when something does catch the attention of readers - as has been the case with the Sliders comics - it's too far past the order point (usually 3 months *before* a book comes out) to do anything about it except alienate potential buyers. :-/ Kind of like the egg leading the chicken...and then both of them being mowed down by an 18 wheel semi while crossing the highway. <G> > Does anyone know of a back-order comic store/chain that would have > copies of the first issue? Check Wizard magazine and the Comics Buyers Guide (sorry, usually only at comic book stores!) for back order and mail order houses. Here on the 'net, leave messages in rec.arts.comics.marketplace.
