The fact that the Caretaker protected the Ocampa was NO secret on Ocampa, and the fact that Voyager destroyed the Caretakers array was NO secret on Voyager. Kes must have already new that, and WHY it was done. Janeway didn't do it because her crew needed the target practice, she did it because when the Caretaker died, the Ocampa had only five years of protection left. They had NO WAY of getting to the array, but the Kazon did. They would take the array, and destroy the Ocampa NOW. Not in five years. Then, they'd take over the whole Delta quadrant. > Of course the writers could also have brought Kes back by having Voyager > accidentally interfere in the fate of a race that Kes was acting as > guardian to. Perhaps, but I think that one of the aims here was to give Kes an irrational motive so that she would appear confused and traumatized, and not like an evil or vengeful Kes who really was never Voyagers friend after all. I think that in the above scenario, Kes at most would only contact Voyager to let Janeway know what they did and advise them to be more careful. Depending of course on what amount of damage had been done. I can't picture Kes as being that spiteful for something that would have been an accident. -- Patrick D. Don't you think the writers could come up /w a better motive for Kes to try to destroy voyager other than because she was an outcast??????

She could have figured out the fate of the Ocampa after Voyager destroyed the Caretaker array and left them unprotected. Of course the writers could also have brought Kes back by having Voyager accidentally interfere in the fate of a race that Kes was acting as guardian to. Her new powers make her almost a god, perhaps she'd take to being a "caretaker" herself. I'm sure she'd be less than impressed if Voyager contaminated her pet project.
