The Timor Sea Ground Shark is an unknown shark, reported from Timor Sea. The creature is larger than the great white shark, which has an average length of 15 feet. It in wait for other fish on the ocean floor. The Ground Shark is supposedly also a man-eater and has no prominent dorsal fin.
Explanations
It could be a giant form of Wobbegong shark (Family Orectolobidae), suggested by Karl Shuker. The Spotted wobbegong (Orectolobus maculatus) inhabits Australasian waters and grows to 13 feet 6 inches. It feeds on the bottom but attacks waders and fishers in tidal pools.
It could also be a new species.
