}} The Antarctic Outpost (or Terra Atlantus) is an outpost built by the Ancients on Earth millions of years ago. Buried under the ice of Antarctica, this is the last known vestige of the Ancients on Earth. Little is known about the purpose of this outpost except that it presumably served as a landing platform given the similar outpost on Praclarush Taonas. It is located on the site that Atlantis once occupied, being left behind when the former left for the Pegasus Galaxy. It is located not far from McMurdo Air Force Base.

Layout

The outpost is a small hexagonal structure, now completely encased in ice flows. Though small, the outpost contains thousands of Drone weapons which were used by Colonel Jack O'Neill to annihilate the fleet of the Goa'uld System Lord Anubis at the Battle of Antarctica in 2004. Like many of the weapons created by the Ancients, they can only be accessed by a Control chair. Access to the outpost was gained by a set of Transportation rings, though an elevator was eventually built that allowed access through the tunnel that was created by the transporter. The outpost is identical to the one found on Praclarush Taonas. There is also a window on one side of the outpost, however this is most likely covered by ice. {{Cite|SG1|Lost City, Part 2}}

Technology

thumb|left|200px|[[Control chair">thumb|left|200px|[[Control chair]] The outpost is fitted with some of the most advanced Ancient Ancient technology|technology, including Zero Point Modules as a power source, a huge arsenal of Drone weapons and a Stasis pod. Based on the fact that the Taonas outpost had a shield, it stands to reason that the Antarctic outpost has one too, but cannot be activated due to power supply issues. {{Cite|SG1|Lost City, Part 2}}

ZPM

thumb|220x220px">thumb|220x220px It was connected to the outpost's control chair to power the Drone weapons of the Ancient outpost in Antarctica to defend Earth against Anubis' fleet (the original ZPM of the Antarctic outpost having already been depleted). It was later connected to the Stargate at the SGC to facilitate dialing the intergalactic address for Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy, which depleted it entirely. It was then used in a ruse against Ba'al. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2", "Zero Hour", SGA: "Rising")

Drone weapon deployment platform

These platforms open to allow the drone weapons to exit and attack the designated target. {{Cite|SG1|Lost City, Part 2}}

Antarctic Treaty

The Control chair was demanded to be removed by the International Oversight Advisory due to it violating the weapons ban in the Antarctic Treaty, and after lengthy negotiations was relocated to Area 51. Less than a month later, the chair was destroyed by Wraith Darts during the Battle of the Super-hive. {{Cite|SGA|Enemy at the Gate}}

Alternate realities
