Gerak was a male Jaffa politician that served as the first leader of the Free Jaffa Nation, and was previously First Prime of the minor Goa'uld Montu. Gerak became a follower of Origin and subsequently a Prior of the Ori.

Within the newly formed Free Jaffa Nation, Gerak was a proponent of distribution of power through military assets instead of through democracy. He was a skilled military leader, and commanded the largest coalition of Free Jaffa within the galaxy. He was invited to Stargate Command by Major General Henry Landry to open up the lines of communication between the two cultures. When a Prior (P3X-421)|Prior was brought to the SGC by Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell, he demanded to speak with him in order to challenge him on his beliefs. He witnessed the Prior self-immolate. {{Cite|SG1|Origin}}During the Battle of Kallana, he commanded three Ha'taks in the battle. He started firing at the force field as soon as he dropped out of hyperspace. He was stopped by Colonel Lionel Pendergast because SG-1 was on the planet. After the Mark IX Nuclear warhead detonated and the force field grew, he demanded that they join in the attack, or become their next target. When the pieces of the Supergate came through the Stargate, two of his Ha'taks were destroyed and his flagship was damaged. He sent Yat'Yir to Earth in search of Ba'al. He first captured Alex Jameson and tortured him for information. He later captured Ba'al, and personally executed him; alas, it turned out to be but a clone, one of many. {{cite|SG1|Ex Deus Machina}}
Gerak was open to the teachings of Origin. When a The Administrator|Prior began visiting him, Gerak's beliefs were swayed, and he eventually chose to follow the Book of Origin. Not only did Gerak accept Origin himself, he felt that to be saved, all Jaffa should be converted to Origin. During sessions of the Jaffa High Council, Gerak attempted to have the Free Jaffa Nation vote to adopt Origin as the official religion of all Jaffa, and have it taught to Jaffa children. Gerak's faith was soon tested by the Ori; he was sent to Chulak tasked with the elimination of Jaffa non-believers, including prominent leaders such as Teal'c and Bra'tac. When Gerak arrived, he could not kill his fellow Jaffa, and felt that in time they would see the light of Origin. When the Prior discovered this, he disregarded Gerak's objections and questioned the gall of Gerak for defying the Ori. When Gerak asked for forgiveness, the Prior transported his mind to the Ori capital, City of Celestis, while Gerak's physical form remained on Dakara. There, beside the Flames of Enlightenment, the Doci of the Ori transformed Gerak into a Prior. Gerak brought a massive fleet of Ha'taks to Chulak, where the rebels were gathering. Teal'c suggested a meeting with Gerak on the surface of Chulak to possibly work out a solution. The meeting site was specifically chosen, as it was a memorial of the Battle of Tazek'sur in which Gerak's father was slain for believing the Goa'uld were false gods. Teal'c managed to convince Gerak that the Ori were no better than the Goa'uld, and that the Jaffa's acquiescence suggested that they were almost afraid to be free. Traveling to Earth, Gerak used his Ori given powers to cure the Tau'ri of the Ori plague|plague that was afflicting them. Although this defiance to the Ori caused an internal self-destruct to activate, Gerak was apparently aware of this trigger and nevertheless chose to aid the SGC regardless.
