Plasmamaschinenpistole 54 is a plasma based  energy weapon created by the People of Himmel from Goa'uld technology, specifically Ma'Tok staff|Ma'tok staff weaponry . After the development of the  PMG49, further research was applied to the creation of a more compact weapon. the PMP54  is the end result of this research, effectively a submachine gun with the innards of a PMG49 scaled down sixty percent The PMP54 is most often seen in the hands of Stormtroopers and other political and law enforcement forces and  authorities. When requisitioned a PMP54 comes with a single capacitor array.
